The entire web site has to function equally well on various types of Browsers, the most common being Internet Explorer© and Netscape©, but there is also Opera©, Mozilla©, Konquerer (a Linux OS browser) and others out there. The design has to function on different types of computer platforms, for example, PC, Macintosh, Linux and UNIX, also in different resolutions, 800 x 600, 1,024 x 768 etc. An additional but not less important point is page display time, if the pages in the web site are cluttered with graphics, animations and/or clumsy programming, they will take a long time to display, this is very bad from the point of view of the user as the majority will go somewhere else rather than have the patience to wait for your site to display, so you will loose them, all of your web site pages have to display as fast as possible while remaining interesting.
